Oatmeal Cookies

I love oatmeal cookies. Not as much as snickerdoodles or a good molasses cookie, but I do love them. When I found this this recipe, I was intrigued with the ingredients. I thought the combination of spices and orange peel sounded really good and was also surprised to see cornflakes in them. I decided to give them a try last night and was so disappointed in them. The orange flavor was overpowering and the corn flakes gave them an odd bite, kinda like you left eggshells in the mix. My suggestion would be to omit the orange zest and corn flakes. Obviously someone felt they were good enough to write down, just not for me.

Digging Through the Box

There is a box in one of my kitchen cabinets that is full of recipes that I want to try. Some are torn from magazines, some are ones that I've handwritten and others are what I call lost and found. I have collected recipes for a long time and often come across old ones in cookbooks that I purchased at a garage sale or thrift shop. Sometimes I find handwritten recipes tucked into the pages or better yet, come across full recipe boxes. Sometimes there are old newspaper clippings hidden in the books and recipe boxes with wonderful recipes that need to be shared. I will try to prepare some of these and others I will share as written.
